abstract
the most important goal of clinical researches is publishing the results in order to improve human health. if the results will be accepted by the scientific community, researcher aim would be achieved at improving public health. a published article does not guarantee the acceptance of its findings by the scientific community, hence, research should be done by considering a scientific plan. due to the increasing amount of research studies, experts attempted to provide guidelines for standardization of a piece of scientific medical research. researches related to the diagnostic tests, are important studies in medical sciences, it is because of their critical role in detection of many diseases by using laboratory processes such as microbiology, immunology, pathology, etc. early diagnosis of diseases results in developing the treatment process and therefore controlling and inhibiting the spread of pathogens from patients to others. with regard to the fact that iran placed among the 30 countries leading in publication of scientific journals related to diagnostic tests and according to important role of standardization of research design and final report of diagnostic tests, the present study was performed to introduce the standards for the reporting of diagnostic accuracy studies (stard). funding: this research was funded by rafsanjan university of medical sciences. conflict of interest: none declared. ethical approval: the ethics committee of rafsanjan university of medical sciences approved the study. how to cite this article: jalalpour sh, assar sh, ayoubi f, rahmani mr, rezaeian m. a standard for the reporting of diagnostic accuracy studies j rafsanjan univ med sci 2014 13(10): 57-68. full textToward a checklist for reporting of studies of diagnostic accuracy of medical tests.
BACKGROUND : "Diagnostic accuracy" refers to the ability of medical tests to provide accurate information about diagnosis, prognosis, risk of disease, and other clinical issues. Published reports on diagnostic accuracy of medical tests frequently fail to adhere to minimal clinical epidemiological standards, and such failures lead to overly optimistic assessments of evaluated tests. Our aim was ...

Overall attendances at sexually transmitted disease clinics have gradually risen since 1988, and increased use of services may have accounted for some of the 1994-6 rises, which continued into 1997. However, it seems unlikely that the pronounced rise could be attributed solely to a sudden widespread increase in clinic use. There is substantial sex...

The quality of reporting of studies of diagnostic accuracy is less than optimal. Complete and accurate reporting is necessary to enable readers to assess the potential for bias in the study and to evaluate the generalisability of the results. A group of scientists and editors has developed the STARD (Standards for Reporting of Diagnostic Accuracy) statement to improve the reporting the quality ...
